The visit was an offshoot of an unscheduled visit to DLSHI campus last September by Chairman. Mundy and ED Dayal where a meeting was held with Dean Adajar to connect with Stepping Stone.
The October 17, 2018 visit started with a tour of the campus highlighting the various vocational facilities classrooms and therapies the school offers. After the tour, the group was led to the boardroom for a video presentation and a “wish list” of what Stepping Stone needed from DLSHI as a partner Institute. Lunch was served as the discussion scontinued.
The meeting ended around 2:00 pm with commitments from DLSHI to partner in various fields with Stepping Stone for school year 2019-2020. The process has to start with a draft MOA to be reviewed by both parties and preparation of schedules as early as May 2019 to ensure interns and clinical supervisors in all therapy areas are placed properly.
Other areas to explore would be Nursing Interns to man our clinic, Guidance Councilors to volunteer their time, Developmental Pediatricians to review our Individualized Educational Plans (I.E.P’s) and even SpEd Students to have their On-the-Job Training at Stepping Stone.
DLSHI has opened up possibilities of a strong and long partnership with Stepping Stone. We look forward to this new partnership.
