The St. Augustine College of Mandaluyong headed by Ms. Virginia Sarmiento and Mr. Levi Posadas together with twenty two (22) students from their caregiver class conducted an Outreach Program at Stepping Stone, Makati last May 10, 2018. The Theme of the Outreach was “Provide Care & Support to People with Special Needs, Respond Effectively to Difficult Behavior”. Each caregiver student buddied with our Stepping Stone students as their “Kuya and Ate”. The program started at 9:30 am with a prayer and the singing of the National Anthem. This was followed by special numbers of song and dance participated by both groups. Our Stepping Stone students showed off their talents as they danced the Baby Shark and Zumba. They even sang som modern songs with the help of their newly founded buddies.
Games such as “Planting the Straw” and “Transfer the Marbles“ made for a participative interaction that was so much fun for both groups. It was quite a good social experience with lots of smiles and photo shoots. Snacks were provided by the St. Augustine students that also included loot bags containing sweet treats. Aside from this, the St. Augustine students also donated School Supplies, Instructional Materials and Rubber Mats which will be helpful for use inside the classroom.
Ms. Virginia Sarmiento and Mr. Levi Posadas shared some inspiring and encouraging words regarding their Outreach Program. Teacher March of Stepping Stone also delivered a short message thanking the St. Augustine heads and students for choosing Stepping Stone for their Outreach program.
By stretching out your hand to children with special needs, you not only fill their hearts with joy and laughter but learn from them as well. These experiences will impact the giver more and will always be remembered as we respect the uniqueness of all children.
We thank the students and heads of St. Augustine for their passion, love, and care for our children.
